Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to frequently asked questions about our African Grey Parrots.
When your African Grey is hurt and frightened, it may associate these negative experiences with its owner. A fearful African Grey can begin to bite or display aggressive behavior. Additionally, it may injure itself while trying to escape what scares it, potentially leading to more falls. This creates a self-perpetuating cycle that, if unresolved, can greatly impact your relationship with your parrot.
However, we provide our African Grey Parrots with top-notch training
African Grey Parrots are medium-sized, measuring between 10 to 14 inches in length. This size makes them excellent companions as house pets. Their cages can be both decorative and spacious enough to serve as a comfortable living area for these lively birds
The minimum size for an African Grey Parrot’s cage is 36 x 24 x 48 inches. As active birds, they require a playtop with a tray. It’s important to include toys and climbing structures to keep them engaged and prevent boredom
Male African Grey Parrots are generally slightly larger than females, although the difference is minimal. Females often have smaller heads and narrower necks.
African Grey Parrots enjoy talking and playing. They possess remarkable mimicry skills, often sounding just like you if you engage with them frequently. They can also adopt speech patterns from other household members and may even imitate other pets
All pet parrots thrive on interaction with the family, particularly enjoying having their heads stroked. However, they generally do not like being handled much elsewhere on their bodies. To prevent boredom and potential self-harm, it’s important to play with them daily. At a minimum, allow them to watch TV while you are away.
